The guy took off the mounts and put a 500 on it. I took off the 500 and its mounts. So, what do I need to know as far as spacing and such for having these welded on? I have a "mockup engine" which is empty cases. Should I just bring it along when I have them welded, or how should I do it? I want to make sure it all fits and no pieces hitting the frame and such. Are there dimensions to go with, or am I making it harder than it needs to be since I have the mockup engine? Thanks! "A Chopper is the final romantic expression that is left in this country. Take your empty case and mock up into frame, taking into consideration the exhaust ports to down tubes, back of 750 to down tube around seat area, etc. Also a must would be to mount rear wheel and tire and line up sprockets. There are other issues to think out so do your home work first, the more complete your motor and bike are the better it will turn out. It's nothing unusual to mount & dismount motor several times to get it rite. You should be able to pull it off if you can weld and use a straight edge......... Before you bring your frame into the shop, you might want to consider "mounting" that engine in your roller frame using 2x4's, bungee cords etc. Leave it in there for the welder to look at. Bring your mounting bolts with you. Cardboard cutouts with holes for mounts might be helpful. Disregard the top front motor mounts as most frames don't have them. And really condider ALL of the areas wher you might screw up. For example, there is a least one NEW frame out there where the builder did not consider the vent tube sticking out of the back of the tranny area and has a downtube welded too close for a rubber tube to be attached. Since your frame was a manufactured frame, I'm pretty sure that you won't run into that problem. "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."
