scratch that guys.... my chopper with the 1/16 drilled main isn't running as good as I thought it would when I actually ride it longer. Today I took it out
for a 20 mile ride. It seems as if its trying harder than it should to run. I twist the throttle and it goes but it doesn't go smoothly. I know I'm
running a shorty pipe and should expect louder noise, but I don't think the engine is suppose to be screaming this loud. I haven't check the plugs yet
after this long ride. We'll see tomorrow. Also at one point after about 10 miles in a neighborhood with lots of stop signs then I came to a stop light.. as
I sit there the idle come down so much that it died out on me. So I pulled over and rest it for a minute or so then fire it up again. OVER HEAT?? I don't
know. THen when I got home, parked in the garage and shut her down, I notice alot of smokey vapor coming out of the top vent. Maybe i'm over heating it by
running too rich?? Did have time to check the sparks tonight as I was busy watching the SUPER BOWL.
Well thoughout my ride, it was kind of rough and picking up speed isn't as responsive, and the enginge just seem to work too hard. I'm running a 180 tire... any of you running a 180 rear also?? how is running a 180 compare to a 110 or 130 should feel like?? To me there is a HUGE different in pick up speed and overall performance. Should this even matter?? |

tuning carbs | ||

have you hooked your scooter to a manameter to set the carbs this will synchronize or balance each cyclinder. Made a world of differance on my 750 like a
whole different bike afterwards. But you may need to find another set of jets. I'm running 130 to help match with my short pipes. If you don't have
a manometer it shows you how to make one in the Chiltons Manual.

Ok road the bike again this evening for about 3 miles.... yeah its deffinitely riding "rough". I pull the plug but they didn't really tell any
story... just look like tan normal to me... Am I just looking at the curved tip? Or the whole spark plug body as well??? I tried to compare to some of the
pictures on the manual but they just look like worst case scenarios when compare to my plugs.

I went to that site... i found the jets... but I can't seem to find float needles that look like the one I have... which one do you recommend??

Bruce, you might just want to get the entire kit because it comes with the float valve seat, as well. Since your valves are in such bad shape it would make
sense to assume that the seats could use replacement. That site and others will sell the kits for your year carbs.

Greg that is true.. but the way I see those kits.. you don't get to pick what size jet to go along with it. I think they come prepackage with smaller jets
like 105 or 110.
