Anyone use them?

The ME 880s are pretty good. Good performance, last long, and look nice.
Im going to use them. |

I use the Dunlop 440's and I love 'em. I've had them on the last two bikes I've ridden hard and they grip well and they're not too
expensive.
As a side note, I get my tires at www.americanmototire.com and they've been pretty good to me so far. |

I have been going between AMT and dennis kirk, they are very competatively priced, the shipping is usually what gets me!

yup...had the ME-88s before, then got the 880's. Love 'em, and will run 'em again. Not cheap, though.

Ive rode with them. They're just not on my bike.
HD uses them on a lot of their production bikes. So some of the tires actually say Harley Davidson on the sidewall. Just keep an eye out if you care. |

metzeler tires are good.

Metzler tires are great tires. Not cheap but great quality.
Avon tires on the other hand are crap. I worked at a shop and cant even begin to count the number of Avon tires I had come back with problems. Never had a metzler come back |

I've ridden a few bikes with the 880 XXL series and thought they were great .. but as mentioned .. they can be spendy....
I pretty much always use Avons on anything I ride or build (unless someone wants something else) and have for many years without anything really abnormal... In fact my driver right now now has a pair of Venoms on and they've been good to me for the past couple years.... Of course .. I don't go through as many tires in my shop as most shops would .. so I probably wouldn't be a good measure ... Just been lucky I
guess...
Build it the way you want it ..... then learn how to ride it like you own it..

I agree with Chopperfreak... HD uses mainly the 440. All thier tires are made in the Buffalo Dunlop plant. I have been through there a number of times.

Ha woops you all are right. I just got them mixed up. I was looking at the 440's for a little while, but they were hard to find in the sizes that I needed.
A lot of them have HD on the sidewall, not the metzelers.

I have been using Cheng Shins and/or IRC's for years.Been happy with them with no problems.Usually in the $40 to $50 range at the local independent MC
repair shop.......................

I had ME880's on my last bike and liked them. I also have them on my current project, but it's not rideable yet.

I've had ME880s on my Wing, and I have a rear on my FJ. The chop gets cheapo Cheng-Shins, though.
The ME's were great on the Wing. Those tires, and Progressive Suspension front and rear, made the bike feel a coopla hunnerd lbs lighter. On the FJ, when pushed hard the back slides around a bit more than when it had either a 99 Perfect or 55 Metronic (both bias ply). But for the way I ride most of the time, the 880 should outlast the bike, and handles well enough on the FJ - a 100+ hp, 570 lb bike. |
