'76F engine

'78K Cush drive on '74K hub with DOHC swingarm (same width as the '78 swingarm between axle plates)

gonna run 18/45 sprockets with a 130/90-16 tire on the rear. (hoping for a good "all-round" gear ratio)

anyone foresee any issues with alignment?

Should I stick with a 530 chain, or get myself a 630 setup?

any advice at all?

Alright.

Using a '74 rear hub, the right and left side spacers from a '78 rear wheel and the '74 cush drive, the sprockets line up perfectly...

it needs a spacer just a hair under 1/4" on the left side to make up the difference.

... just in case anyone else out there is doing the same thing.

Far as I know, the "F" models, all had the chain 1/2" further outboard.

Stuff we got, it was only the K7 that had that.

I'd expect a "F" motor sprocket to line up with the offset carrier.

But then again, I've got a lathe so I wouldn't care.

530 or even 520 chain is thinner than 630. 530 is plenty strong and I think LRT can set you up with either chain and your choice of sprockets.

if you need the chain to set out farthur from the tire, the later cush drive gives you 1/2" over the early ones........just use wich ever one gives you
the correct clearance and keeps the chain straight.

Do you suggest using the early cush drive, and use spacers to make up the difference?

Problem: Your '78 sprocket carrier is wider than the '76, so the sprocket isn't gonna line up to your '76 motor.
Go with the 630 chain, especially if you're going to be using a wider tire (my 2cents).
