I tried the brake quite stuff today and adjusted my rear brake... HOLY SH!T! Good stuff fo sho!! I was sick of getting looks when I rolled into places with a screaming squeak!! The squeak was so loud and high pitched it could make a man go sterile!!!

Everything I've sprayed on works for a short while, but the brakes don't stop as good either. I'll probably try to find organic pads or something. Yes, the squeak can be embarrasing.

my stepson got a gs500f 800miles he wash his bike and back brake stop squeaking.i say a good washing with water,
its free well ,almost free

Thats the name for the stuff I have. When you go to a parts store if you need to ask, ask for the stuff you put on the back of disc brake pads to keep them quiet.

The reason for the squeaking is the pad moving around in the cup, metal on metal, its the same reason most car/truck brakes squeak.

Go to a part store and get some disc brake quiet. The stuff I have is orange and it comes in what looks like a glue bottle, its kinda like a silicone. Put it on the back side of the wheel side pad, not the one in the caliper itself. I used it and it stopped until recently when I took it back apart. Now I need to get some more.

I sanded, wire wheeled, rebuilt, put silicon sealer on the backs of the pads. It's too bad to have to replace a good set of pads. I haven't tried cutting a cross shape in them yet though. Any other remedies?

A little bit of high temp grease on the BACK side (calliper side) of the pads will sometimes help with squeaks and chatter.

Additionally, the manufacturers almost always recommend resurfacing the disk when replacing pads to help with the break in. When I change pads, I usually give the disk a quick once over with a scotchbrite disk on the die grinder to scuff up some of the polish. Stainless steel sucks for brake disks - and it sucks even more if...

I took a hacksaw blade and cut a cross shape into the pad. Not too deep, but enough to make a groove. It's been quiet ever since. Oh, also, I replaced the piston with a stainless steel one, and put a new seal on it to make sure it is retracting properly.

I had one set that no matter what I did they just would not stop....I replaced them with another brand

I use a wire wheel on a grinder/drill to rough up the pad...it'll flick out the some of the little metalic flakes that are on the surface, also I use a grinder to chamfer the edges 45 degree, just slightly..that will help quiet squeely pads, that 90degree edge against the disc can sometimes cause a squeel. just knocking off that sharp edge will help.

How can I quiet the squeaky front brakes? I sanded the glaze off, but the squeak comes back after riding a day or so.
